Each month we gather for respectful, open, honest, healthy and sometimes uncomfortable conversations about racism, addressing discriminatory practices, policies, beliefs and attitudes within ourselves, the Durham Region community and surrounding communities.
Our September topic is School Disciplinary Practices and the Youth Justice Act: Exploring – the dis-connection and the effects on racialized students/youth.
Working with student can be both a challenging and rewarding field. How can we think about discipline in the classroom differently in order to break school to prison pipeline for Black, Indigenous and Brown students?
Everyone is welcome and admission is free but registration is required.
